Dr. Girley Gumanao, a woman with heart for conservation |
Dr.
Girley Gumanao, a Conservation Fellow (CF) of Panabo City Pride Campaign, bested
among other CF’s all over the country after she was given the prestigious title
by RARE as the “Top Blogger of the Quarter” while the group is boarding in to
the 2nd University Phase. The
news was made known in the back to back issue of the quarterly newsletter of
RARE. Dr. Gumanao was chosen because her blogs embedded insights that other conservation
fellows could adhere to. Lately, Dr. Gumanao wrote on the validation of the
coordinates of the Marine Protected Area (MPA) in Cagangohan, the focal site of
her campaign in Panabo City, that left a mark to other fellows the importance
of re-marking the boundaries of their respected fish sanctuaries.
The
newsletter also bragged the blast of accomplishments, milestones and activities
achieved during succeeding months of February to June. To mention a few, CFs
were engaged in series of workshops of transitioning from qualitative to quantitative
research during the love month. The month of March made the CFs busy in
training their enumerators for the quantitative survey and the collection of
the quantitative data had fully blown in April to May. The month of June
started the 2nd University Phase that convened the CFs from 13
Philippines Sustainable Fishing Campaign all across the country, including the
Sustainable Fishing Campaign in Cagangohan, Panabo City and Sustainable Fishing
Campaign in Sanipaan, IGACOS City, both in the province of Davao del Norte.
The
2nd University Phase is now on its third week and currently
happening in Montebello Hotel, Banilad, Cebu City.
