These are main ingredients a
mural painter should possesses in order to deliver the message of conservation
and protection of Mother Nature to the people.” This was shared by Guerrero
Saño during the “Mural Painting Workshop” held last May 19, 2014 at the Library
Hall of Davao del Norte State College, Panabo City. The said activity was part
of the Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities of the Panabo
City Pride Campaign which aims of inspiring local fishers to fish outside the
Core Zone and use only hook and line in the Buffer Zone to increase fish
population and sustain fishing in Panabo.
Inspired by the messages and AG Saño’s flight, the participants headed to
Dondoy Elementary School to share and express their different strokes of
conservation and protection and make the walls of the school colorful and
attractive to students and passers-by. Saño also encouraged the participants to
invite their relatives and friends to join the team to increase the awareness
of the advocacy of protecting the Marine Protected Area (MPA) in Panabo. The
group also did the painting in ARF Gym stage and walls.

Who is AG Saño?
AG Saño is popularly known when he joined the cast of now defunct
teleserye “Got to Believe” where he worked with Chichay (Kathryn Bernardo)
doing the mural painting. He is called by Rappler.com as the Dolphin Guy and the artist responsible for some of the
most ubiquitous street murals in the Philippines. These murals are not just
beautiful, larger-than-life images of dolphins, rainbows, and dreamscape
visions – they are concrete messages of conservation and peace.
