The Panabo City Fishers' Creed

The Fishers' Creed in Cebuano Translation
I am a Panabo Fisher, a model and steward of God's creation.

I fish in the right place and use the right and allowed fishing gears to sustain the livelihood of the fishery dependent and underprivileged sector and the next generation.

By doing these , I bring goodwill to my fellowmen and others follow me.

I fish in the right place, outside the designated No Take Zones so I allow fish grow, multiply and produce fry to replenish the depleted areas.
The Fishers reciting the creed

I use the right gear, hook and line in the buffer zone and non-destructive fishing gears in fishing areas so I do not destroy the fish habitat and i don't hurt but nurture the small fish.

I protect and value God's creation so I provide the needs of my family and livelihood of the fish dependent and underprivileged people ( co-fishers, fish vendors, fry gatherers, fish cages workers, caretakers) and the next generation.

I respect fish sanctuary, mariculture and other fishery rules and regulations ( RA 8550, CO 03-03-, CO 14-12) to provide fishing area where everyone could fish without worry of apprehension and guilt, so I am respected by my peers and recognized by the LGU.
The Gleaners, Fish Vendors and Fishers' Wives reciting the creed

I am a pride of my family, so my children, co-fishers and others will follow me and all of us will leave peacefully and guilt free.

To bring the awareness of the campaign to the hearts not only of the target audience but to  all the Panaboans in general, is the main concern of the Panabo City Pride Campaign of launching this campaign song. The song is entitled "Kadagatan sa Panabo" comes in three versions with Senyor Gago as the composer-singer. The lyrics of the song hopefully be the melody of the change of attitude of Panaboans towards fishing in the designated fishing area with proper gear. Panboans hopefully will dance the victor of the people who have put themselves selflessly for conservation.

Panabo atong ampingan atong dagat

Chorus:

Ang isda nga naa karon, atong padaghanon
Alang-alang para sa atong kaugmaon
Sa sulod sa santwaryo pasanayon, ug sa gawas
lang nato bingwiton
Ayaw pasubrahe imohang kuhaon
Pagbilin pud tawn para sa kaugmaon

Kadagatan sa Panabo (2x) atong panggaon
Kadagatan sa Panabo (2x) atong ampingan
Tanan magkahiusa
Tanan, mutabang unta

Mangisda lang ta sa mga buffer zone
Aron isda sa santwaryo atong palambuon
Gamiton lang naton ang saktong mga gamit pangpangisda
Para napay mabilin ugma, para ibaligya

Repeat Pre Chorus
Then Chorus (2x)

AG Saño Brings Color to Panabo

“Paint. Brush. Wall. Heart.”

DNSC grabs the photo op with the country's famous mural artist.
These are main ingredients a mural painter should possesses in order to deliver the message of conservation and protection of Mother Nature to the people.” This was shared by Guerrero Saño during the “Mural Painting Workshop” held last May 19, 2014 at the Library Hall of Davao del Norte State College, Panabo City. The said activity was part of the Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities of the Panabo City Pride Campaign which aims of inspiring local fishers to fish outside the Core Zone and use only hook and line in the Buffer Zone to increase fish population and sustain fishing in Panabo.

Inspired by the messages and AG Saño’s flight, the participants headed to Dondoy Elementary School to share and express their different strokes of conservation and protection and make the walls of the school colorful and attractive to students and passers-by. Saño also encouraged the participants to invite their relatives and friends to join the team to increase the awareness of the advocacy of protecting the Marine Protected Area (MPA) in Panabo. The group also did the painting in ARF Gym stage and walls.

Officer In-Charge Principal Jocelyn Castillo represented the Dondoy Elementary School. The event was also participated by the Local Artist of Panabo, Guhit Kamay, commercial artists, LGU Panabo, BLGU-Cagangohan, GLDondoy Elem. Who is AG Saño?

AG Saño is popularly known when he joined the cast of now defunct teleserye “Got to Believe” where he worked with Chichay (Kathryn Bernardo) doing the mural painting. He is called by Rappler.com as the Dolphin Guy  and the artist responsible for some of the most ubiquitous street murals in the Philippines. These murals are not just beautiful, larger-than-life images of dolphins, rainbows, and dreamscape visions – they are concrete messages of conservation and peace.
